MRI SAFETY and YOU

MRI has evolved as one of the most useful tools in the diagnosis planning, and treatment of disease processes in clinical medicine. Depending on the status of the patient, completion of an MRI may require coordination of services outside of Radiology (ie. Anesthsia/Respiratory/Nursing/Transport etc).  Because of this, and because of the INHERENT dangers of a Magnetic Field Environment, the division of MRI will be instituting a mandatory training session for all members of the Hopkins team who will be “working” in an MRI environment.

All Hopkins employees that must work in a Magnetic Environment will be asked to review a MRI Safety power point presentation, and then take a post test.  Individuals that PASS this test will granted access to MRI in the form of:

*   A new Hopkins MRI Safety Approved Lanyard

We will phase in this training session between January and June of 2008.  Employees without these identifiers after June of 2008 will not be admitted to MRI.
