Obtaining NetRelay
NetRelay may be downloaded from this web site for noncommercial, academic use. Complete instructions for downloading and installation appear below. Those who find NetRelay useful are asked to send a brief e-mail to the author.

Downloading and Installing NetRelay for Users in the United States
NetRelay has been tested in the Windows operating system. Below are instructions for getting NetRelay to work in Windows 95/98/NT.
  1. Download the Java 2 Runtime Environment from Sun Microsystems. Run the installer, which will install a folder named "C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\jre\1.2". If you choose a different folder, write down the full pathname. The installer may be deleted to save storage space.
  2. Download the Java Cryptography Extension 1.2 from Sun Microsystems. De-archive the file, which will install a folder named "jce1.2". Put the file "jce1.2\lib\jce1_2-do.jar" into the folder "C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\jre\1.2\lib\ext". This file contains the cryptography subroutines used by NetRelay. If a different pathname was used in Step 1 above, move jce1_2-do.jar according to that pathname.
  3. Download the NetRelay distribution file. De-archive the file. Run NetRelay by double-clicking the file named "Run NetRelayA.bat". If a different pathname was used in Step 1, then the file "Run NetRelayA.bat" must be edited to reflect that pathname.

Downloading and Installing NetRelay for Users Outside of the United States
Because of export restrictions, Sun's Java Cryptography Extension cannot be distributed outside of the United States and Canada. Users outside of the United States may download a Sun-compatible cryptography extension from the Australian Business Association (ABA). NetRelay has been tested with the ABA extension. The ABA extension comes in a file named "jce.zip" and takes the place of the file installed in Step 2 above.
